IV PADS getting by without Lily Pads sales

By Billy Thompson Apr 4, 2020 | 6:06 AM

The Lily Pads resale shops that support the Illinois Valley PADS homeless shelters are closed until the stay-at-home restrictions are gone. To save operational costs, the PADS shelter in Ottawa isn’t housing any residents. They’ve all been moved to Peru.

Executive Director Carol Alcorn says donations of money and supplies are still welcome at either place. One employee is at the Ottawa shelter to take deliveries there.

One thing that can help a lot is food. Alcorn says if you can donate a restaurant delivery, call 815-224-3047 to find out which meals are needed and when you can send it.

While the Lily Pads resale shops are closed, they are neither accepting donations nor selling secondhand merchandise. Alcorn says she doesn’t want to turn down donations altogether. She’ll need things to sell when the stores can reopen. She’s asking people to hold on to their donations until then.
