State publishes corona case count by zip code with map

By Billy Thompson Apr 7, 2020 | 7:42 AM

A new map that shows confirmed corona virus cases by zip code shows it’s more likely to have been confirmed in your community if it’s closer to the edge of LaSalle County than in the middle. That doesn’t mean the virus isn’t circulating everywhere though.

The Illinois Department of Public Health is showing when a community has had at least one case, but for communities with five or fewer cases, no specific case number is given. As of Monday, that describes the Streator, Tonica, Leonore, Peru, Earlville, Sheridan, and Seneca areas.

In Grundy County, Morris has had six cases.

UPDATE: As of mid-day Tuesday, the map no longer shows zip codes with five or fewer cases of the virus.
