County Board Chairman says virus patients deserve privacy

A leaked memo tells of two LaSalle County employees having the corona virus. County Board Chairman Jim Olson says he’s upset about the leak, but not because he’s trying to hide anything. He says he’s following privacy rules while being criticized by people who want specifics about who has the virus or where they are.

Olson says the memo was issued internally for employee safety. He says he’s proud of the employees who have shown up for work that can’t be done at home. He says some county business just can’t be taken home or delayed until the pandemic is over.

He also wants everyone to know there have been safety procedures in place at the county courthouses for several weeks now. Little public business is going on inside. Meetings are being held by teleconference when possible. And employees are wearing masks.
