In the beginning…ok I’m sure that joke has been used in 80% of the band Genesis’s write-ups over the years. Cliche #1 checked off. Truth be told, I didn’t know a ton of Genesis beyond the hits and the 80s pop hey-days before this week’s undertaking (and it really was an undertaking). There are 15 studio albums to go through, and if a band (or genre) isn’t your cup of tea, it can be a challenge! Along the Way, I think we figured out why too much Genesis at one time can do you in. Are they the best Prog Rock band of all-time? Many would say yes. I personally like my Rock (of any kind) to have a bit more snarl and bite to it, and there are other Prog Rockers that definitely check that box.
