2020 a cloudier year than usual, so far

So far in 2020, anyone in Illinois who prefers sunshine or starry nights hasn’t been getting a lot of enjoyable weather. Illinois State Climatologist Trent Ford says four solar radiation recording stations across the state recorded far less sunshine than usual for the first three months of the year.

Ford says it’s probably because of weather patterns that bring in relatively warm, humid air from the south. He says the records for January through March this year show warmer and more humid air than usual too.

We may be in for a break. Ford says the National Weather Service outlook for May predicts cooler and dryer weather.
