St. Rep. David Welter says the budget that passed the House Saturday didn’t get his support because it falls $5 billion short of revenue. The Morris Republican says it also gives an enormous amount of control and authority to Gov. Pritzker with little oversight and few limitations. Welter says he’s particularly upset that it doesn’t provide any real property tax relief for local families. He says Republicans were shut out of the final budget process.
