Nickel size hail fell in Ottawa at about 2pm Saturday, according to trained weather spotters who reported it to the National Weather Service. Strong winds also knocked down some trees and big branches on the east side during the storm. A trained spotter in Marseilles reported hail nearly 7/8 of an inch wide at about the same time.
A weather spotter reported a tornado northwest of Minooka Saturday. Another weather spotter reported a tornado in Woodford County northeast of El Paso.
