Man found in river was one of two missing fishermen

The man whose body was found in the Illinois River by Covel Creek west of Ottawa Saturday had fallen into the water while fishing 70 miles away in Kankakee, Conservation Police confirmed Tuesday. Forty-one year old Nicholas P. Williams, 42-year old William Veasley, and a dog fell into the Kankakee River on May 7 when a boat turned over. The dog’s body turned up right away. Veasley’s body was found by Dresden Lock and Dam in the Illinois River last week. Williams is the one whose body was found over the weekend in LaSalle County. Both men were from Matteson, Illinois.
