Comprehensive plan update coming for Ottawa

Ottawa is updating its comprehensive plan. The city adopted the current plan in 2014. Mayor Dan Aussem says the City Council is hiring a firm to look over what changes are needed.

Since 2014, the city has annexed along Illinois 71 toward Interstate 80. There has also been business development northeast of Norris Dr. and Columbus St.

The firm Teska Associates will earn up to $75,000 working on the new plan, which can be used to justify zoning and development decisions. Aussem hopes to have a new one approved by the end of year.
