Peru police follow through on zero-tolerance fireworks policy

About a week ago, Peru Police Chief Doug Bernabei said police would be taking a zero-tolerance approach to illegal fireworks use. Beranbei says he’s received many complaints about how fireworks usage has a negative effect on the quality of life in Peru.

Police have followed through.

Since then, Peru officers have written ten separate tickets to people alleged to have set off fireworks in the city ranging from early evening through four in the morning.

Bernabei says he’s received overwhelmingly positive feedback for the zero-tolerance policy.
