Ottawa High to limit student attendance to one quarter at a time

For Ottawa High School students who return to school in person in two-and-a-half weeks, only one quarter will go on a given day for the first two weeks. The school district posted an update to its back-to-school plan yesterday explaining that students will be put into four groups.

A different group will attend each day Monday through Thursday. Those not going in person will be expected to attend class online. All of them will be online on Friday. Classes will be shorter than usual, just one half-hour each to get all of them in from 8am to 12:30pm. That’s how it will be done from August 17th until Labor Day.

The district’s message says having just one quarter of the students in on a day makes for easier contact tracing, better movement through the buildings, and maintaining a greater distance between students. What to do after Labor Day will be decided during the first two weeks.
