LaSalle County now has coronavirus recovery rate of less than 50%. The county health department’s figures provided Saturday added 16 people to its total case count for 499 altogether. Recoveries are at 249 for a rate of 49.9%.
That recovery rate is where the county was about a month ago. It climbed to almost 75% two weeks ago, but then a surge of new cases outpacing recoveries brought the rate down. The newest cases in the county span nearly the entire age range for people from under 13 to 80 or more.
The Illinois Department of Public Health added 1,639 cases Saturday for 180,476 so far. Eight more deaths were counted in Illinois for 7,503 altogether.
