Five people were chosen for Illinois Valley Community Hospital Auxiliary Scholarships of $1,000 each. Hospital employees and their children who are going into health care can apply for them.
Among the winners is Melissa Mata of Peru. She won the Ruth Daniels Scholarship. Mata is a nurse in the IVCH day surgery unit and is in the family nurse practitioner program at Illinois State University.
Some of the other winners are Madison Aimone of Utica and Vanessa Rosales of Peru.
