Derecho recovery: Ottawa closes east side, provides extra yard waste dumpsters

Ottawa’s east side is closed to non-residents. The only way in and out is Canal Rd. due to Main St. being blocked.

Ottawa residents can put tree limbs on the berm for the city to pick up. Yard waste dumpsters are at Allen Park, the Riordan Pool parking lot, and the usual location in the 400 block of W. Jackson.

City workers will go through Ottawa picking up branches left out on the berm. It will take several days.

Ottawa City Hall says roof and siding work don’t require permits. But those doing electrical and structural work do. But permits are required for structural and electrical work. Contractors working in Ottawa must register with City Hall.
