By the number of power outages, this area was the hardest hit in Illinois by the derecho. Craig Gilson is the Senior Director of Division Operations South for Ameren Illinois. He says damage is so widespread, it hasn’t been possible to get enough help right away to replace power poles, reconnect wires, and repair electrical equipment.
Ameren was still assessing the damage when Gilson spoke on WCMY’s Morning Meeting program this morning. He hoped to have restoration time estimates this afternoon.
