Wind storm was as sudden as it was ferocious

The wind storm that went through LaSalle County Monday afternoon was as sudden as it was ferocious. People told WCMY things seemed normal right up until the blast of air took down trees and power lines around their homes.

It’s the same scene all across northern Illinois. Trees of all sizes and ages were broken and sometimes wholly uprooted, taking chunks of ground or slabs of sidewalk with them. Some damaged houses. Utility lines came down in numerous places. Power outages were scattered across northern Illinois.
