Local state parks won’t get any visitors this weekend. Starved Rock State Park is mostly closed. Matthiessen State Park is entirely closed. Site Superintendent Alvin Harper says you can be charged with trespassing if you’re there when you shouldn’t be.
Harper doesn’t know yet how long storm cleanup is going to take.
With limbs on the trails, the only way people could get around would be to go off the trails. That’s the cause of a lot of accidents and ecosystem damage.
