Republican U.S. Senate candidate Mark Curran says if something can be made in America, it should be. He believes a friendlier business environment in the U.S. would help.

Curran is a former Democrat. He says the party went too far left for his taste. Even so, he still believes in some of the things that Democrats are more often known for. He says the very wealthy should pay more in taxes and Social Security needs to be protected.

But Curran is against abortion and supports gun owners’ rights. Curran, asking voters to give him Democrat Dick Durbin’s job, visited LaSalle County Tuesday and spoke to the Tea Party group.
