Illinois Supreme Court Justice Thomas Kilbride says he’s a fair and impartial judge and that’s why voters should say YES to retain him on the court. The Illinois Republican Party is working to oust Kilbride claiming that his decisions on the bench have ruled against term limits for state offices, struck down pension reform, and struck down a measure for fair maps of state legislative districts in 2016.

The Judge defended the decision regarding mapping.

He says the other decisions were also based on the Constitution and had bipartisan–some even unanimous–backing.

Kilbride has served on the Illinois Supreme Court since 2000. To be retained, a judge must get a 60 percent “yes” vote. Currently, Democrats have a narrow 4-3 majority on the court.

Kilbride announced his retention campaign online.
