Marseilles asking for $550k grant for sewer project

Day in and Day out lives of many Marseilles residents should become less worrisome come Springtime flood season. North Central Illinois Council of Governments’ Austin Taylor commenced the Marseilles public hearing portion of the City Council meeting Wednesday night to talk about the government grant for sewer upgrades.

On the line is a $550,000 dollar Community Development Block Grant. The City began work on applying for Grant June 21. Sewers at Gum Creek, Bluff Street and Union Street Crossing are the main beneficiaries of the Grant. Marseilles has shown the Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity it is ready and able to provide $20,022 to make up a difference on total expected costs.
