According to owner Mark McSparin, the pandemic is no longer complicating the process of getting movies into theaters like the Roxy in downtown Ottawa.

Phase one of planned remodeling has already taken place. McSparin has restored the fresco look that formed the lobby ceiling as well as the classic original molding. Also restored is the tin ceiling you see over the box office.

McSparin says the biggest obstacle to overcome was the governor closing the Roxy for three months and removing his source of revenue. For people who are fond of the Roxy Theater in Ottawa and who consider it their “theater home”, McSparin says it’s going to remain open and stay open in future for a long time. He says operating in the new normal means being open to generate some revenue and deal directly with slowly reviving film companies.
