Thursday Sports Update

 The Lady Pirates Golf team finished the season with a team score 434 in the Class 2A regional at the Minooka Golf Course.

 

  • Ottawa’s Zoe Harris led the team with a final score of  98 

 

 

The Streator Bulldogs golf team scored a 345 to place third at the Class 2A Regional at Arrowhead Country Club.

  • Streator’s Jacob Magana finished at 81 and Noah Colter scored an 83 and  will move on to sectionals at Kellogg Golf Course in Peoria.

 

 The Saint Bede Lady Bruins finished their golf season with a team score 403 and finished 3rd at the Class 1A Sandwich Regional.

 

The Lady Pirates lost on the Road to Geneseo in tennis 3-2

  • Ottawa’s Sara Meyer won in singles.
  • Ella Marvel & Marta Johnson were winners in doubles.

 

The Lady Bulldogs defeated Kewanee at Streator High School in tennis 4-1

  • In singles Streators Claire Vogel and Lucy Zavada were winners.
  • The teams of Haley & Lora Berry and partners Syria Zuniga & Charlee Bourell each won in doubles. 

The Streator JV girls also won 5-1 over Kewanee.

 

Yesterday there was MLB playoff action.

In the National League

  • The Braves blanked the Marlins 2-0.  Atlanta leads the series 2 to nothing.
  • The Dodgers outscored the Padres 6-5, Los Angeles is ahead in the series 2-0

Over in the American League

  • The A’s outplayed the Astros 9-7. Houston still leads the series 2-1
  • The Rays dominated the Yankees 8-4 and  Tampa Bay now leads the series 2-1.

 

The playoffs continue today  with:

  • The Braves look to finish the series with the Marlins in Miami.
  • The Dodgers try to close out the series at San Diego with the Padres.
  • The A’s will try to tie up the series with the Astros in Houston.
  • The Rays have a chance to wrap up the series in New York when they take on the Yankees.

 

The Chicago Fire fell to Kansas City 1-0 on the road in the MLS.

 

The Bears host Tom Brady and the Buccaneers at Soldier Field tonight. Both Chicago & Tampa Bay enter the contest with a record of 3 and 1.

 

Today the PGA begins the Shriners Hospital for Children Open in Las Vegas
