Seneca & Marquette golfers competed at Ironhorse Golf Course in the Tuscola Class 1A Sectional. 

  • Seneca’s A.J Stiegler tied for fifth out of 81 athletes  with a final score of 81..
  •  Stiegler is only the fifth golfer in Seneca High School history to qualify for state.
  • Marquette’s Carson Zellers finished the day shooting 113.

 

The L-P Co-Op swim team defeated Olympia 86-42 at the Peru YMCA.

  • Peyton Heagy won the 200-yard freestyle, the 50 freestyle, the 100 freestyle and the 100 breaststroke.
  • Nicole Pocivasek was the winner in the 100 backstroke.

 

Yesterday in Game Two of the NL Championship Series in Arlington.  The Braves led 7-0 in the seventh inning and survived a four-run Dodgers’ ninth to win 8-7. Atlanta leads the best-of-seven matchup, 2-0. Game three is tonight in Arlington Texas.

 

Game Three of the ALCS in San Diego. The Rays took down the Astros 5-2. Tampa Bay now takes a commanding 3-0 series lead and is one win away from reaching the World Series for the second time in franchise history.  The series continues tonight in San Diego.      

           

The Titans dominated the Bills 42-16 last night in Nashville.  Tennessee improved to 4-and-0. Buffalo fell to 4-and-1.

 

Also Interesting news coming from the NFL, The New Orleans Saints are having discussions with Louisiana State University about playing games in Baton Rouge. The Saints want to play in front of a partial crowd at the Superdome, but the New Orleans Mayor is not allowing it due to the coronavirus pandemic.  The NFL is supportive of the Saints’ decision.

 

The NCAA Ninth-ranked Florida Gators is putting football activities on hold after a coronavirus outbreak.  The Gators announced five new cases on Tuesday and multiple reports say there have been 19 positive tests in recent days.  Florida is scheduled to entertain LSU on Saturday afternoon.

 

 Top-ranked golfer Dustin Johnson is positive for COVID-19.  The PGA Tour’s number-one player has withdrawn from this week’s CJ Cup at Shadow Creek in Las Vegas.  The PGA Tour says Johnson was experiencing symptoms, which prompted him to go and get tested.

 

 The Chicago Fire visits Minnesota United tonight in the MLS.  Chicago defeated D.C. United 2-1 on Sunday.  With the victory, the Fire moved into playoff position in the Eastern Conference.
