December 18th is the deadline this year for holiday mail to get to its destination by Christmas.

According to the Post Office, you can even wait a day longer until December 19th for cards and packages but it will have to go Priority.

If you want someone in Canada, Mexico, Europe, South America, Asia or Africa to be opening a gift package on Christmas, it will need to be at the post office by December 7th. You will also need to fill out a customs’ form for packages. They are available at the post office.

Packages require a customs form declaring what is inside so don’t drop a package or card in the mail box without it. Packages cannot be liquid, fragile or combustible.

The deadline for Christmas card letters going to Australia, New Zealand, Europe, Central and South America is Dec 17th. The deadline for cards to Asia and Africa is December 18th. The deadline for Canada, Mexico and the Caribbean is December 22nd.

COVID 19 restrictions are affecting mail delivery in this country and overseas. So be sure not to wait this year to send out your holiday mail.
