Members and Friends of the VFW in Ottawa are banding together to put on a fundraising event.
Sherri Benedetti of Ottawa explains:
Because of the pandemic this summer, the VFW in Ottawa could not put on taco Fridays or spaghetti or pork chop dinners. Gambling kiosks sat idle. Those traditional sources of revenue meant the Ottawa VFW was already struggling to pay their bills.
Then the derecho hit in August and VFW equipment was damaged.
Vets will find American legion and VA booths at the event. They will let you know all the programs that the US government has available for vets to re-adjust to life back home after deployment overseas.
Three pig’s will be roasted at 3. A heated tent will provide cover to back to back bands performing until late rain or shine.
The American Legion and the VA will be on hand to answer questions vets may have about their benefits.
