Plymouth Tube is closing its Streator location. Streator Chamber of Commerce Director Jack Dzuris says the company notified the mayor Wednesday. Almost three dozen people work there and will be out of work in the next couple months.
He says business had been slowing down for Plymouth since it had more than 70 employees at its peak. That started years ago, but the pandemic is a contributing factor to the closure.
A company statement says the company is negotiating with the employees’ labor union on closing the Streator location and providing benefits to those who will be out of work.
