Sen. Dick Durbin calls yesterday a dark day for the U.S. Senate, which appointed Amy Coney Barrett to the U.S. Supreme Court along partisan lines. Durbin says her appointment was rushed “in the middle of a once-in-a-century pandemic and an election”.
Sen. Tammy Duckworth says the confirmation was “infuriating, awful and illegitimate”. Duckworth claims Barrett has extreme views on when life begins and on criminalizing in-vitro fertilization.
Dani Brzozowski, running for Congress in the 16th District, says it’s “the culmination of a process that has been unnecessarily expedited and dangerously politicized”. Brzozowski predicts a rollback in LGBTQ and women’s rights.
Durbin, Duckworth, and Brzozowski all believe Barrett will side with a conservative majority against the Affordable Care Act.
