Barges will move freely again soon on the Illinois River. The last locks and dams closed for improvements are open again. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers says the Peoria and LaGrange locks reopened during the last month. The Dresden, Marseilles, and Starved Rock locks reopened this week. They’d been closed since July.
