Monday Sports Update

Saturday was the Peoria Notre Dame Class 2A cross-country sectional held at Detweiller Park.

The Lady Pirates team placed 11th Leading the way for Ottawa were: Lainey Billings with a time of 20:51 and Lexi Jett’s time of 21:02. 

The Streator Lady Bulldogs Abby Seaton ran a time of 21:07 and Lily Kupec finished at 21:55

 

In the boys division 

The L-P Cavaliers team had a final score of 318 to place 11th. Ryan Hartman led the team clocking a 16th place time of 16:20.

The Bulldogs’ Kody Danke ran a time of 16:44 to place 37th.

Ottawa Pirates single entry was  Liam Tipple and he finished the day with a time of 17:52 to finish 80th.

 

At the class 1A cross-country sectional in Seneca

Marquette’s Lucas Hoffman in his final race as a Crusader finished 4th with a personal best time of 17:03 for the Seneca course.

The Seneca boys team finished 5th overall. Leading the Fighting Irish was  freshman Austin Aldridge taking 7th place.

The Lady Irish placed 3rd and were led by Amber Vroman finishing 11th and Ashley Alsvig with her 12th place finish.

 

Will Lutz kicked a 35-yard field goal in overtime as the Saints outlasted the Bears 26-23 at Soldier Field.  Nick Foles threw two TD passes and an interception for Chicago, which fell to 5-and-3. Elsewhere in the NFC North, The Vikings outscored the Packers 28-22 and the Lions got Hammered by the Colts 41-21.

 

Tonight the Tampa Bay Buccaneers battle the New York Giants in New York on Monday Night Football.

 

Illinois’ comeback effort fell short in a 31-24 loss to Purdue at Memorial Stadium on Saturday. The Illini hosts Minnesota on Saturday.

Notre Dame pounded Georgia Tech 31-13 in Georgia. Northwestern pulled out a road win in Iowa to beat the Hawkeyes 21-20

 

In the PGA, Brian Gay won the Bermuda Championship at Port Royal Golf Course. Gay won his first PGA title since 2013.

 

The Fire earned a 1-1 draw against Nashville on Saturday at Nissan Stadium.  Chicago remains on the road to face Minnesota United on Wednesday.

 

Chase Elliott won NASCAR’s Xfinity 500 at Martinsville Speedway. The Series Finale 500 is Sunday in Phoenix.
