Monday Sports Update

 The Bears’ losing streak is now three after falling 24-17 to the Titans in Nashville.  Nick Foles threw for 335 yards and two touchdowns for Chicago, which dropped to 5-and-4.  The Bears offense struggled throughout most of the game, converting just 2-of-15 third-down opportunities against the NFL’s lowest-ranked third-down defense. Chicago faces the Vikings on Monday Night Football a week from today.

Elsewhere in the NFC North from yesterday, the Vikings defeated the Detroit Lions 34-20 in Minnesota.

Drew Brees threw for four touchdowns as the Saints smashed the Buccaneers 38-3 on Sunday Night Football in Tampa. Tom Brady had a rough day throwing three interceptions as Tampa Bay fell to 6-and-3.

 

Tonight on Monday Night Football,  The New England Patriots take on the New York Jets

The Illini remained winless on the season following a 41-14 loss to Minnesota Saturday at Memorial Stadium. Illinois is at Rutgers this Saturday.

 

Northwestern outscored Nebraska 21-13 and in double overtime Notre Dame defeated top ranked Clemson 47-40. 

The season is over for the Fire after falling 4-3 to New York City at Soldier Field.  With the loss, Chicago was eliminated from qualifying for the MLS Cup Playoffs. 

Carlos Ortiz won the Houston Open with a four-day score of 13 under par. He became the first Mexico native to win a PGA Tour event since 1978. 

Today starts Masters week at famed Augusta National.  The final major of the rearranged PGA season tees off Thursday, seven months after it was originally scheduled in April.  Tiger Woods won last year, claiming his fifth career Gold Jacket and his 15th major championship overall.

Chase Elliott was crowned NASCAR Champion after winning the Cup Series finale in Arizona. This was Elliott’s fifth win of the season and first NASCAR championship title.
