A scaled back ceremony due to the pandemic took place in Memorial Park in Oglesby Wednesday morning to honor Veterans Day.

Oglesby American Legion Commander, Robert Blum said it was theā€¦:

A firing squad of five rifles assembled facing one of several granite memorials to every major American war or conflict of the past 100 years and fired three times at precisely 11:00am. A bugler then followed with taps.

Earlier in the morning, 10 Members of the American Legion in Oglesby paraded down Clark Street to Memorial Park and exactly 11:00 am sharp, five large wooden rifles were raised into the brisk Autumn air by their bearers and fired three times.

A crowd of about 3 dozen people assembled at the park. Their only advertisement was their memory of it from previous years.
