Monday Sports Update

Illini’s James McCourt kicked a 47-yard field goal with three seconds left to lift Illinois past Rutgers 23-20 for their first win of the season. The Illini will travel to Nebraska to battle with the 1-2 Cornhuskers on Saturday. 

Number two ranked Notre Dame beat Boston College 45-31 on the road in the Holy War game but couldn’t jump over top ranked Alabama, who was idle this past weekend.  

Northwestern climbed up three spots in the rankings to number 20 thanks to a 27-20 road win at Purdue.  Up next for Notre Dame is a bye week while the Wildcats will prepare to host the Wisconsin Badgers on November 21st in Evanston. 

The Chicago Bears are set to host rival Minnesota in an NFC North Division showdown tonight on Monday Night Football.  The Bears are looking to snap a three-game losing streak while the Vikings will enter the game having won two-in-a-row. 

Bears running back David Montgomery  has been ruled out for the game due to a concussion he suffered late in the Bears loss to the Tennessee Titans. 

Elsewhere in The NFC North 

Aaron Rodgers found Davante Adams for a go-ahead touchdown in the fourth quarter as the Packers held off the Jaguars 24-20 in Green Bay. 

 

Matt Prater kicked a 59-yard field goal as time expired to lift the Lions to a 30-27 win over Washington in Detroit. 

Last night on Sunday Night Football, the Patriots beat the Ravens 23-17 at a rainy Foxborough.  Rex Burkhead had two TD catches as New England won its second straight to improve to 4-and-5.  Lamar Jackson threw for 249 yards, two touchdowns and an interception as Baltimore dipped to 6-and-3. 

Dustin Johnson is celebrating his first career green jacket.  He shot a final round score of 68 at Augusta National to finish 20-under par and win The Masters by five shots. Defending Champion Tiger Woods tied for 38th at one-under par.
