Patrick Williams is coming to the Bulls.  Chicago drafted the 6-foot-8 Florida State forward with the fourth pick overall in last night’s NBA Draft.  The 19-year-old Williams was the Atlantic Coast Conference’s sixth man of the year and helped the Seminoles win their first ACC regular-season crown.

The Bulls also selected center Marko Simonovic from Serbia with the 44th pick.

Miguel Cairo is the new bench coach for White Sox manager Tony La Russa.  The former major-league infielder succeeds Joe McEwing who was the Sox bench coach under Rick Renteria the last four seasons. Cairo played 17 seasons in the big leagues, including four seasons for La Russa in St. Louis.

The Northern Illinois Huskies lost 31-25 to Ball State in Muncie.  Ross Bowers threw for 300 yards, a touchdown and an interception for the Huskies, who dropped to 0-and-3.  NIU is at Western Michigan November 28th.

Saturday’s game between UNLV and Colorado State has been called off due to COVID-19.  It’s the second game Colorado has had canceled this season.  The Mountain West Conference also announced Thursday’s Utah State at Wyoming game has been canceled as well.

The Bears are claiming DeAndre Carter off waivers from the Texans.  The receiver/return specialist has appeared in 39 NFL games over three seasons with the Eagles and Texans.

The Cardinals and Seahawks will battle for first place on Thursday Night Football in Seattle.  Both teams are 6-and-3.  The Cardinals are coming off the Kyler Murray-to-DeAndre Hopkins Hail Mary win over the Bills this past Sunday.  Seattle has lost three of its last four.

The Las Vegas Raiders are going to place a majority of their starting defense on the COVID-19 list. Players who are on the list as close contacts must complete five negative tests before returning to action.  The Raiders are scheduled to host the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday Night Football.

The NFL is forcing all teams to operate under intensive COVID-19 protocols starting Saturday. The protocols include teams holding only virtual meetings.  All players and staff must wear masks at all times while at team facilities, including during practice.  The league says the change comes due to the increase in COVID-19 cases around the country as well as data they have collected throughout the year regarding close contacts.

Over in the PGA, round one of the RSM Classic starts today at St. Simons Island in Georgia.
