FEMA reports good results from nuclear plant disaster drill

By Billy Thompson Nov 21, 2020 | 4:42 AM

The LaSalle Station nuclear power plant and the authorities that would handle a serious problem there passed a disaster drill Tuesday. Normally, most of the people involved would be in one room together for a table-top exercise, explaining what they would do after each development in a meltdown or other problem. Sean O’Leary with the Federal Emergency Management Agency says COVID-19 protocols put everyone on Webex.

And he says everyone did well handling the disaster scenario. Each nuclear power plant is required to do a disaster drill every two years with local, state, and federal authorities.
