After almost 20 years as a judge in LaSalle County, Gene Daugherity will become an appellate judge. An Illinois Supreme Court announcement says Daugherity will fill the Robert Carter vacancy.
Carter is moving up to the Illinois Supreme Court for two years. That vacancy is happening because not enough voters said yes to keeping Tom Kilbride there.
Daugherity did earn retention in the local circuit court district in the same election though. That’s good for another six years as a circuit judge. Instead, Daugherity will serve on the appellate court for two.
