Morris Hospital situation improves but CEO says keep your guard up

Morris Hospital says in a statement the number of patients there with the coronavirus has dropped from last week. But it’s still a high enough number to be careful day by day scheduling surgeries that require hospitalizations. President and CEO Mark Steadham says for a hospital with 89 beds, it doesn’t take much to put it at capacity.

There were 41 coronavirus patients at one point in the last week. The number was down to 28 in the Tuesday announcement. Steadham urges everyone not to let down their guard about the virus now, because it will make a difference in the weeks ahead.
