Ottawa High to join lawsuit against vaping product maker

Ottawa High School is joining as a plaintiff in a lawsuit against the Juul vaping products company. School Board President Don Harris says there are numerous school districts across the country going against the company to try to recover the costs of helping kids with vaping addictions.

Harris says the school district doesn’t have to put up any money to join the lawsuit. A Kansas City area law firm is paying the upfront costs. But there is the potential for money from a settlement.

It’s not a class action lawsuit, so each plaintiff must join the case. But it is just one case, so there isn’t the potential for hundreds of cases with conflicting rulings across many jurisdictions.
