Tuesday Local Sports Update

Tune in tonight for Ottawa Pirate Basketball when they host Sandwich at the Historic Kingman gym. Hear all the action with your hosts Sean Frey and Bryar Lehr. Game time at 7pm on 1430 WCMY and streaming on 1430 WCMY DOT COM.

 

Other games scheduled in Boys basketball:

  • Marquette will host Washburn
  • Seneca is on the road to take on Midland
  • St Bede is at home to face Kewanee
  • AND Coal City travels to Streator to face The Bulldogs

 

Tonight also begins the 102nd annual Little Ten Conference Boys tournament.

  • In the opening round, Depue will host Hiawatha and Leland travels to LaMoille

 

Last night in boys basketball 

Marquette won on the road by defeating Serena 63-37.  Victor Mullen and Luke Couch led the Crusaders with 12 points each.

  • The JV boys hammered Serena 61-15

 

In Girls Basketball

Last night’s contest between Marquette and Midland was   POSTPONED DUE TO THE WEATHER

Seneca won on the road by defeating Roanoke Benson. 48-27

  • Brooklyn Giertz  led the Lady Irish with 17 points. Madi Bromberek added 15 pts in the victory.

 

The Lady Bruins defeated Kewanee at St Bede 45-26.

 

The streator Lady Bulldogs dominated at home against  Coal City 46-22.

 

Games scheduled for tonight, The Lady Pirates are on the road to take on Sandwich, and The L-P Lady Cavaliers are also on the road to face Morris.

 

The L-P co-op boys swim team defeated Wethersfield and Kewanee at the Peru YMCA 

  • Joe Ovanic won the 200 individual medley and the 100 butterfly 
  • Jon Szewczuk won the 200 freestyle
  • Owen Phillips placed first in the 100 freestyle
  • Ryan Nelson won the 500 freestyle
  • Luke Mertes finished first in the 100 backstroke.
  • Ovanic,  Mertes, Phillips and Dillon Malerk  won the  200 medley relay
  • Ovanic, Phillips, Mertes, and Szewczuk placed first in the 200 freestyle relay
  • Szewczuk, Nelson, Duncan Perry and Tanner Ditchfield won the 400 freestyle relay.

 

The Ottawa boys bowling team lost to Sterling last night.

  • High rollers for the Pirates were Nelson Brandt, Zander Parise and Sean Miller 
  • The Pirates will take on Kaneland on Wednesday.

 

The Streator Bowling teams split with their host St. Bede 

  • The Lady Bruins claimed the girls match:, Veronica Martin and Madelyn Theesfeld led St Bede in their Victory.
  • The Bulldogs won the boys matchup: Brady Grabowski and Anthony Dominic led Streator over the Bruins

 

In the NBA

The Bulls lost to the Wizards 105-101 

 

Over in the NHL

The Blackhawks take on the Dallas Stars tonight in the Lone Star State. 

 

News in the MLB

 The St Louis  Cardinals sign Yadier Molina to a one-year deal worth nine-million-dollars.  

 

Major League Baseball is making changes to its baseballs in an effort to reduce the soaring home run totals.  The league sent a memo to front offices that outline  the changes which are intended to “deaden” the ball.  Some teams will begin using a humidor to store balls at their home parks.
