The Seneca Lady Irish defeated Midland 64-32 

  • Kennedy Hartwig  led Seneca with 27 points and Brooklyn Giertz added 12 more for the victory.

 

The Lady Crusaders were on the road and defeated Hall 49-35.

  • Josie Eager and Lilly Craig each had 16 points to lead Marquette,
  • Molly Snook added 11 points for the victory

 

The JV girls lost to Hall’s Jv squad 34-24.  

  • Lindsey Kaufmann scored eight points for Marquette

 

Games scheduled for Varsity Girls  tonight.

  • Marquette will host Henry
  • Earlville travels to face Indian creek
  • Seneca is at Putnam County
  • Streator hits the road to take on Reed-Custer
  • St Bede will be the visitors tonight when they travel to Kewanee.

 

In Boys Basketball

 

Streator outscored the L-P Cavaliers 59-51 at the Pops Dale Gymnasium

  • Amarion Ford finished with a team-best 15 points and added five rebounds with two steals. 
  • Jack Haynes added 11 points and 12 rebounds for the Bulldogs victory.
  • Drake Weber had  game-high 19 points for the Cavaliers in the loss

 

The Boys Little Ten Conference tournament quarter-finals

Earlville lost at home to the Serena Huskers  52-39.

  • Camden Figgins led the Huskers with 20 points

LaMoille lost on the road to Somonauk 67- 20 

 Newark outscored Hinckley-Big Rock 48-43

Indian Creek  dominated at home against Hiawatha  70- 31

 

The LTC finals are set for Friday with Indian Creek hosting Serena and Newark will travel to face Somonauk,

The Ottawa boys bowling team won last night over Kaneland 

High roller for the Pirates:  Nelson Brandt with a high game of 223,  Zander Parise rolled a 222 and Colin Sheridan added a score of 209 in the win. The Pirates travel to face Mendota Tonight.

 

In college Basketball

Northwestern suffered a 79-76 double-overtime loss to Indiana in Evanston.  The Wildcats have now dropped ten straight games. Northwestern will visit Rutgers on Saturday. 

 

The Bulls sank a franchise record 25 three-pointers in a 129-116 win over the Pelicans at the United Center.  Zach LaVine led Chicago with a season-high 46-points. Coby White added 30 points, knocking down eight 3 pointers.  LaVine and White made history by becoming the first teammates in NBA history to each make eight threes in a game.  The Bulls will host the Clippers tomorrow night.

 

The Blackhawks are riding a three-game win streak when they host the Columbus Blue Jackets tonight.  Chicago earned a comeback overtime victory Tuesday at Dallas.  The Hawks and Blue Jackets are matching up for the third time this season.  The clubs split their prior two matchups on January 29th and 31st.

 

The PGA Tour heads to California this week for the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am. Defending champion Nick Taylor won last year’s event by four shots with a 19-under par.

 

The NASCAR season starts this weekend and Alex Bowman is heading to the pole position for Sunday’s 63rd running of the annual Daytona 500.  It’s the second pole position Bowman has captured at Daytona.
