Tonight on WCMY listen to Crusader Basketball when Marquette will take on Roanoke-Benson at Bader Gym. Game time is 7pm with your hosts Bryar Lehr and Issac Missel giving you the play by play on 1430 WCMY and streaming on 1430 WCMY DOT COM.

Other boys varsity schedule for tonight

  • The Ottawa Pirates are on the road to face Sycamore
  • L-P travels to Rochelle to take on The Hubs.
  • Seneca will face Putnam County
  • The Streator Bulldogs will host Reed Custer 
  • St Bede travels to take on Kewanee.  

 

The final four are set to compete tonight at the 102nd Little Ten Conference Tournament

  • Indian Creek will host Serena and Somonauk will face Newark.

 

Listen to WCMY tomorrow for a double header of varsity basketball action beginning at 2:30 when the Marquette Crusaders take on Midland at Bader Gym and then at 6pm hear Pirate basketball when Ottawa faces their Interstate eight rival the Plano Reapers at historic Kingman Gym. Last night the Ottawa Freshman Boys Basketball team defeated Sycamore last night 34-44.
Leading scorers  were Packston Miller with 11 points, Camden Loomis with 8 points.
Ottawa is 2-0 so far this season.

 

Last night in Girls Varsity basketball

The Marquette Lady Crusaders defeated Henry 46-36 at Bader Gym

  • Josie Eager and Molly Snook each had 15 points to lead the way for Marquette

 

The Marquette JV were also winners against Hall 40-25

  • Jaylyn Clairmont led the Lady Crusaders with six three pointers and 20 points total 
  • Lindsay Kaufmann added 9 points in the victory

 

Seneca was a winner at Putnam County  64-39

  • Brooklyn Giertz  and Kennedy Hartwig led the Lady Irish each with 15 points

 

Streator loses a close one on the road at Reed-Custer 39-37

 

Earlville was defeated at Indian creek 50-32 

 

Newark outscored Somonauk 44-42

 

Tonight the Ottawa Lady Pirates will host Sycamore at Kingman Gym.

 

Game schedule for Saturday in girls basketball

Marquette at Serena, Ottawa travels to Plano and Streator hits the road to Herscher

 

The L-P boys Co-op swim team dominated Olympia and Clinton last night.

  • Luke Mertes won the 50 freestyle and the 100 breaststroke,
  • Joe Ovanic won the 100 butterfly and the 100 backstroke
  • Ryan Nelson place first in the 200 and 500 freestyles
  • Owen Phillips was the winner of the 100 freestyle 
  • Jon Szewczuk won the 200 individual medley. 
  • The boys also won the 200 medley relay and the 200 and 400 freestyle relays.

 

The Ottawa boys bowling team won last night in Mendota.

  • High rollers for the Pirates were Nelson Brandt with a high score of 245 
  • Zander Parise added a score of  228 and Sean Miller added a total series score of 546.
  • The Pirates play next at Rochelle on Tuesday. 

 

This weekend in NCAA basketball

  • The 6th ranked Fighting Illini are at Nebraska tonight
  • The  NIU Huskies are at Kent State
  • Northwestern travel to face  Rutgers 
  • Illinois State has a two game series with the SIU Salukis at the Redbird Arena.
  • Notre Dame and the Miami Hurricanes will do battle in South Bend Indiana.

 

The Blackhawks lost to the Blue Jackets 6-5 in Chicago.  

 

The Bulls host the Clippers tonight at the United Center.

 

Over in the PGA, Patrick Cantlay leads after round one of the  AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am in California 

 

The Great American Race is back on Sunday.  Alex Bowman will lead the field up front for the 63rd annual NASCAR Daytona 500.
