Mark Gretzinger, 62

Mark Gretzinger, 62, of Ottawa, passed away Saturday, February 13, 2021 at his home, surrounded by his family.

Visitation will be Tuesday, February 16 from 2:00 pm until 5:00 pm at the Ottawa Funeral Home, with military honors to follow. Burial will be at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery. Masks and social distancing will be enforced.

Mark was born May 8, 1958, in Charleston, SC, to W.C. and Joan (Fogarty) Gretzinger. He married Karen Newquist on December 18, 1982 in Steger, IL.

Mark Served in the United States Marine Corp as a 1st Lieutenant from 1980 until 1984. He then worked as a Machinist at Caterpillar of Joliet before his retirement. He enjoyed wrestling and was a longtime Ottawa High School wrestling coach. He was a lifelong member of the Ottawa American Legion.

He is survived by his wife, Karen Gretzinger; his children, Adrienne (Brian) Citta and Mook Gretzinger; his grandchildren, Tucker, Elliot, and one on the way; his mother, Joan Gretzinger; his sister, Donna (Ralph) Rotter, and a niece and a nephew. He was preceded in death by his father.
