Ottawa City Commissioner Marla Rodriguez says a project that didn’t get done as planned last year will be done this year. The city delayed Thornton Park improvements because of the pandemic. The grant has an expiration date, so the city needs to proceed.

The City Council last night opened a bid period. Bids will be taken until March 10. The city is getting $305,100 from a state grant for installing a splash pad, pickle ball courts, and playground equipment in Thornton Park.

People look over proposals for improving Thornton Park during a public input session at the park in 2019.
