Also tonight Earlville is hosting Hiawatha, Serena is on the road to take on LaMoille and the postponed game last night between Seneca at Roanoke has been rescheduled for tonight.

 

Last night the Marquette Crusaders dominated Woodland at Bader Gym 55-28.

  • Lucas Hoffman led the Crusaders with 16 points. 
  •  Nick Melvin and Victor Mullen each added nine points in the victory.

 

Games postponed last night due to bad road condition

  • For the boys, the St Bede – Bureau Valley game  and both the boys and girls  Streator –  Wilmington contests

 

Girls basketball tonight the Ottawa Lady Pirates  will host their rival the L-P Lady Cavaliers at the Historic Kingman gym at 7pm.

 

Kofi Cockburn’s fourth-straight double-double of 17 points and 10 rebounds helped Illinois defeat Northwestern 73-66 at the State Farm Center.   Ayo Dosunmu added 13 points and five assists for the 5th-ranked Illini, who have won six in a row.  Illinois improved to 15-and-5 and 11-and-3 in the Big Ten.  The Illini travel to Minneapolis to take on Minnesota on Saturday.

 

Northern Illinois  lost a tough one on the road to Akron 81-76.  The 2-12 Huskies look to break a three game losing streak when they host Miami-Ohio on Saturday.

 

The Bulls will be hosting the Detroit Pistons tonight after their originally scheduled game at Charlotte was postponed due to COVID-19 contract tracing on the Hornets.  This marks the third game Chicago has had postponed under the NBA’s health and safety protocols.  No makeup dates have been announced. 

 

The Blackhawks look to match a season-high with a third straight victory tonight against the Red Wings in Detroit.  Chicago defeated Detroit, 3-2, in overtime on Monday.  Since January 22nd, the Hawks lead the NHL with 19 points and share the lead league with eight victories.

 

The Cubs and White Sox open spring training today with pitchers and catchers reporting.  The Cubs begin workouts in Mesa, Arizona, while the Sox will hold workouts in Glendale.  Full squad workouts for both clubs begin next Monday.  The Cubs start their Cactus League schedule March 1st, while the Sox schedule kicks off February 28th.
