Last night on 1430 WCMY, Ottawa High School celebrated senior night by defeating Sycamore 44-29 at Kingman Gym

  • Anthony Cooper led the Pirates with a game-high 16 points and seven rebounds 

The JV squad also defeated Sycamore 49-35

 

L-P was home and outscored Rochelle 73-63

  • The Cavaliers Drake Weber finished with a game-high 33 points

 

 Earlville lost on their home court to Newark 49-35

  • Noah Lemke had 12 points for the Red Raiders in the loss.

 

 Serena dominated Leland 58-9

  •  Ben Shugrue and Hudson Stafford led the Huskers with 8 points.

 

Tonight

Marquette travels to face Midland, Streator is on the road at Lisle, Seneca is at Woodland and  St. Bede will host  Hall

 

Girls Basketball last night

Ottawa Suffered a tough loss at Sycamore 37-16.

  • Zoe Harris had four points to lead the Lady Pirates,

The JV girls won at Sycamore 30-27

 

L-P won on the road at Rochelle 54-40 

  • Brooklyn Ficek scored 16 points for the Lady Cavaliers.

 

Seneca won at home against Putnam County 49-33.

  • Maddie Bromberek  led the Lady Irish with 16 points 
  • Brooklyn Giertz   added 15 more for the win.

 

Streator lost at home to Lisle at the Pops Dale Gymnasium. 49-31

 

Tonight  Earlville will host  Serena.

 

Junior High Boys Basketball

Shepherd swept Bureau Valley at both grade levels.

  • 8th grade defeated Bureau Valley 30-29 in overtime. Leading the way for the Rams was Noah Gross with 10 points, 
  • 7th grade defeated Bureau Valley 31-30. Archer Cechowicz led the Rams with 9 points,

 

Big game tonight in the Big-Ten when 4th-ranked Illinois faces off against second-ranked Michigan tonight in Ann Arbor.  The Illini defeated Wisconsin Saturday and have already clinched a top-2 seed in next week’s Big Ten Tournament.

 

The White Sox battled to a 4-4 tie against the Angels in Tempe, Arizona.  Alex McRae gave up one run on three hits in one inning of work in his first start of the spring training for the south siders. The Sox hosts the Rangers today.

 

The Cubs pitchers allowed only six hits over seven innings in a 1-0 shutout of the Padres in their Cactus League opener at Peoria Stadium.  P.J. Higgins drove in the lone run for the North siders.  The Cubs host the Royals today.

 

The Chicago Bulls lost to the Denver Nuggets 118-112 at the United Center.  Zach LaVine led the Bulls with 23 points and Coby White added 20. The Bulls visit the Pelicans tomorrow night.

Former Bulls center and fan favorite Joakim Noah is retiring from basketball.  Noah is ending his 13-year NBA career and is expected to retire as a Bull.
