Sen. Rezin goes FOIA route for veterans home corona info

St. Sen. Sue Rezin wants more information than she’s been able to get about the coronavirus outbreak at the veterans home in LaSalle. She has filed a Freedom of Information Act request, asking for information about communications concerning the virus there and the names of deputy governors responsible for handling it. And she wants to know about grant money that could be used for fighting the pandemic.

Rezin wasn’t allowed to participate directly in a Senate hearing on the outbreak in November. The Illinois Department of Veterans Affairs this week announced the first positive coronavirus test on a resident in more than three months. That person is number 109. Previously, there had been 108 residents with the virus and 36 deaths among them.
