Tune in tonight to WCMY for high school basketball The Ottawa Pirates will host their Interstate eight rival the L-P Cavaliers. Game time is at 7pm. Hear all the play by play action with Sean Frey and Bryar Lehr right here on 1430 AM WCMY and online at 1430 WCMY DOT COM.

Other games scheduled for tonight

Streator travels to Coal City, Serena will host Hinckley, Earlville will face Leland and St Bede will compete at Hall.

Last night in Girls basketball

L-P won at Peoria Notre Dame in a non-conference game 66-36.

Brooklyn Ficek scored 18 points for the Lady Cavaliers 

 

Serena dominated Hiawatha 54- 9

Taylor Staton had a game high 17 points with 7 rebounds for the Lady Huskers.

 

Seneca outscored Henry  47-33

Leading the way for the Lady Irish were Brooklyn Giertz with 21 points and Maddie Bromberek  with 12 points.

 

Earlville won on the road at Somonauk 28-24.

Mady Olson led the Lady Red Raiders with 16 points

 

Streator defeated Coal City

 

This weekend the Ottawa Lady Pirates travel to Peru to take on their conference rival the L-P Lady Cavaliers.

 

The L-P Co-Op boys swim team defeated Metamora at the Peru YMCA.

  • Luke Mertes won the 100 breaststroke and 100 butterfly 
  • Joe Ovanic took first in the 200 individual medley and the 100 backstroke
  • Duncan Perry won the 200 freestyle
  • Josh Washkowiak won the 500 freestyle
  • Mertes, Ovanic, Chris Lowery and Owen Phillips won the 200 medley relay and the 200 freestyle relay 

 

The Ottawa boys bowling team lost to Sycamore.

High roller for the Pirates was Zander Parise with a 624 series score and a high game of 212.

 

Junior High Basketball

Shepherd defeated JFK at both grade levels.

8th grade won 40-22. Leading the way for the Rams Tristan Finley with 12 points,

7th grade won 40-21. Leading the way for Shepherd Jaxsen Higgins and Jax Addis each with 10 points.

 

In College basketball

Last night in round one of the Missouri Valley Conference tournament

The ISU Redbirds lost to Northern Iowa 65-60.

 

Tonight the Northern Illinois Huskies travel to face Central Michigan.

 

This weekend in College Football

ISU travels to face Northern Iowa, SIU heads to Youngstown State, Western will take on South Dakota State and on Sunday Eastern will battle at UT Martin.

 

Ottawa’s Michael Hermosillo, Austin Romine, and Ian Happ each hit home runs  as the Cubs routed the Dodgers 7-0 at Camelback Ranch. Trevor Williams allowed no runs on four hits in two innings for the win.  The Cubs host Cleveland today.

 

The White Sox suffered a 3-1 defeat to the Giants at Scottsdale Stadium.  Leury García drove in the lone run for the Pale Hose.  Connor Sadzeck  was tagged with the loss in relief.  The Sox host the Mariners today.

 

The Cardinals mustered only three hits in a 14-0 loss to the Astros in West Palm Beach. The Cards visit the Nationals tonight.
