(Undated) — The Illinois Department of Veteran’s Affairs says there are currently no cases of COVID-19 at any of the state’s veterans’ homes. Chief of staff Tony Kolbeck says vaccinations started in late December and close to 97-percent of the residents and 53-percent of the staff decided to get the shot. He added that staff is tested for the virus at least once a week and residents are tested twice weekly. This good news comes after previous outbreaks at the Quincy and LaSalle veterans’ homes claimed the lives of at least 60 residents.
