Tune in tonight for HIgh School football when the Marquette Crusaders host Stark County.

The Streator Bulldogs will host Peotone, the Seneca Irish travel to Clifton, The Morris Redskins will defend their home field against Plano and The Bruins of St Bede will face Monmouth.

The L-P Cavaliers will kick off their season hosting Rochelle also on Saturday afternoon.

 

Last night the Ottawa girls defeated Rochelle in Volleyball 25-16 25-19

  • Leading the Lady Pirates were Piper Nanouski with 13 kills and 3 aces and  Lilly Miller with 21 assists.

 

Also in Volleyball, Coal City  defeated Streator in straight sets 25-13, 25-21.

 

 

The White Sox won 9-4 over the Reds at Camelback Ranch.  Leury García drove in three for the South-Siders and Dylan Cease allowed one run over five innings for the win.  The Sox visit the Brewers today.

 

The White Sox may not have slugger Eloy Jimenez this season. Jimenez ruptured a pectoral tendon while leaping for a ball at the fence in Wednesday’s spring game against the A’s.  GM Rick Hahn says Jimenez needs surgery, which is expected to sideline him five-to-six months.

 

Tune in on Sunday For the last preseason game of White Sox baseball here on the air at 1430 WCMY, when the Sox host the DiamondBacks at Camelback Ranch. Game time is at 3:05 when Dallas Keuchel  takes the mound for the South-Siders.

 

The Cubs fell to the Dodgers, 5-2, at Sloan Park. Kris Bryant and Brennen Davis drove in runs For the North-Siders who host the Giants today.

 

The Cardinals were shutout, 3-0, by the Astros in West Palm Beach, Florida.  Tommy Edman and Nolan Arenado recorded St. Louis’ only two hits.  The Cards host the Marlins tomorrow.

 

 The Chicago Blackhawks blanked the Panthers 3-0 at the United Center.  Patrick Kane, Pius Suter, and Brandon Hagel scored for the Hawks with Kevin Lankinen making 41 stops in the win.  The Blackhawks continue their six-game homestand with a back-to-back against the Nashville Predators tomorrow and Sunday night.  

 

The Bulls made a major move yesterday and have acquired Nikola Vucevic from Orlando for Wendall Carter Jr., Otto Porter Jr., and two first-round picks

.

The NCAA Tournament resumes tomorrow with the start of the Sweet 16.  Top-seeded Baylor battles Villanova, Houston plays Syracuse, Arkansas meets Oral Roberts, and Loyola Chicago faces Oregon State.  Four more games are on Sunday.  The Elite Eight starts on Monday.
