Over the weekend in high school football

The Ottawa Pirates lost at home to Morris at KIng Field 35-6.

The Pirates scored on a 59 yard touchdown run by Jarvarius Whitefield.

 

The L-P Cavaliers won on the road at Plano 14-7

The Cavaliers running back Matt Carrico had 17 carries for 104 yards in the win.

 

Seneca lost a thriller at home in overtime to Watseka 20-14.

Ryan McCauley rushed for 116 yards and two touchdowns for the fighting Irish.

 

The Kaneland Knights dominated at home over the  Rochelle Hubs 41-6.

 

In Girls Volleyball

Ottawa defeated Coal City 25-19 25-21

Leading the Lady Pirates Ryleigh Stevenson with 11 kills and 4 aces, Piper Nanouski had  7 kills and 7 digs and Lily Miller added 20 assists with 2 aces.

 

Streator won at Putnam County 25-15, 25-17

Halie Grace finished with 6 kills, 4 blocks and 1 ace and  Kristen Lane added 5 kills, 10 digs with 1 ace for the Lady Bulldogs.

 

Serena won in three sets over Woodland 

For the Lady Huskers Katie Baker had 8 kills and Sophie Thompson added 12 assists

 

Tune in tonight for White Sox baseball, when the South-Siders continue their road trip to face Seattle. Carlos Rodon takes the mound for the Sox to battle Justus Sheffield for the Mariniers.

Last night the Sox lost to the Angels 7-4 in Anaheim.   The south-Siders scored their four runs on a throwing error, wild pitch, and a fielder’s choice.   José Ruiz got the loss in the relief for the Sox, who dropped three of four in the season opening series.  

 

 Zach Davies allowed two-runs in five and two thirds in his Cubs debut in a 4-3 win over the Pirates at Wrigley Field.  Ian Happ homered and Kris Bryant had an RBI single for the North-Siders which took the season opening three-game set.   The Cubs host the Brewers tonight.

 

The Cardinals lost to the Reds in a 12-1 loss in Cincinnati.  Yadier Molina drove in the lone run for the Cards who visit the Marlins today. 

 

 

Zach LaVine scored a game-high 25 points as the Bulls beat the Nets 115-107 at the United Center. The Bulls visit the Pacers tomorrow night.

 

 The Blackhawks host the Stars tomorrow night.  The Hawks lost 3-0 at the Predators on Saturday.  

 

 Top-seeded Gonzaga puts its 31-and-0 record on the line against fellow top seed Baylor in the Men’s NCAA Tournament title game in Indianapolis.  Gonzaga outlasted UCLA and Baylor beat Houston in Saturday’s Final Four.

 

Over in the PGA,  Jordan Spieth  won the Valero Texas Open at TPC San Antonio.
