South side woman says city sewer work was a surprise

A south side Ottawa resident says a sewer construction job was a surprise to everyone in her neighborhood. Peggy Schneider complained to the City Council this week, no public notices went out about the work on Second Ave. until late into the project.

Schneider says if the city can alert her to boil water orders on the other side of town and the monthly storm siren test, it ought to be able to tell her when construction equipment might be parked in her yard. City Commissioner Tom Gainere says the notification process will be improved.

New sidewalks and driveways and bare dirt where grass should be remain after sewer work an Ottawa woman says was a surprise to the people in her neighborhood.
